Terms of Use

Effective 20 October 2026

These terms cover your use of the Hoverpad app for Mac and the hoverpad.app website. Hoverpad is made by Rudi Louw, trading as Hoverpad, in South Africa (“we”, “us”). By using Hoverpad, you agree to these terms.

1. Licence

Hoverpad is licensed, not sold, to you through the Mac App Store. Your use of the app is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), together with these terms. If the two conflict, the Standard EULA applies.

3. Your content

Your notes are yours. We don't access, own or claim any rights to them. You're responsible for keeping copies of anything important. iCloud sync, when you turn it on, is provided by Apple under your agreement with Apple.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Hoverpad to break the law, or to capture or pin content you don't have the right to capture. Don't reverse‑engineer, resell or redistribute the app except as the law allows.

5. Privacy features

Hiding notes from screen sharing and locking notes with Touch ID rely on protections built into macOS. They work with major apps such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. Some capture tools may not respect them, so test before relying on them for sensitive information. Touch ID lock stops people reading a note on your screen. It doesn't encrypt the note's contents on disk.

6. Disclaimer

Hoverpad is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties that it will be error‑free or uninterrupted, and we're not liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be excluded, including the South African Consumer Protection Act.

7. The website

The hoverpad.app website is provided for information. Its content, design, logo and icon belong to Hoverpad. Mac, macOS, iCloud, Touch ID and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. Hoverpad is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. If we make a significant change, we'll update the effective date and note it on this page.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights in the country where you live.
