Hoverpad › Floating sticky notes

Floating sticky notes for Mac

Hoverpad puts your notes on top of every window, so the thing you need to remember is always in view while you work. No switching apps, no digging through a notes list.

What “floating” means

A floating note is a small window that stays above your other windows. You can keep working in Safari, Xcode, Figma or a video call, and the note stays put in the corner of your screen. Hoverpad notes also stay above fullscreen apps and follow you across every desktop (Space), which most note windows don’t.

Why the built-in options fall short

macOS includes Stickies, and its Float on Top option works for ordinary windows. But Stickies notes disappear the moment you put an app into fullscreen, and Notes and Reminders don’t float at all. If you present, code, edit video or sit in long calls fullscreen, that’s exactly when you want a note in view. See the honest comparison with Stickies.

What you get with Hoverpad

How to get started

  1. Install Hoverpad and look for the note icon in your menu bar. It doesn’t use the Dock.
  2. Press ⌃⌥N for a new note, or ⌃⌥A for Quick Add.
  3. Drag the note by its top edge to wherever you like. Hover the colour dot to recolour it.
  4. Press ⌃⌥H to hide or show all notes at once.

Free and Pro

Hoverpad is free to start, with up to three floating notes, checklists, Markdown, all eight colours and Quick Add. Hoverpad Pro is a one-time purchase ($9.99 in US dollars; the App Store shows your local price) that adds unlimited notes, iCloud sync, pinned screen areas, notes for one app, Touch ID lock, layouts, edge dock, fonts and image sharing. There is no subscription.

Yes. Hoverpad notes float above every other window, including fullscreen apps, and they appear on every desktop. Apple’s Stickies can float over normal windows but not over fullscreen apps.

Does Hoverpad work on Apple silicon and Intel Macs?

Yes. Hoverpad runs on any Mac with macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Apple silicon or Intel.

Do I need an account to use Hoverpad?

No. There are no accounts and no analytics. Your notes stay on your Mac, and in your own private iCloud if you turn on sync.
