Hoverpad › Pin part of your screen

Pin any part of your Mac screen

Select an area of your screen and Hoverpad floats it as its own window, above everything else. Turn on Live and it keeps updating, like a small always-on-top monitor.

How to pin a screen area

  1. Press ⌃⌥S in any app.
  2. Drag over the part of the screen you want: a chart, a design, a stream, a block of documentation.
  3. It appears as a floating window you can move and resize. Turn on Live if you want it to keep updating.

What people use it for

Live or still

A still pin is a snapshot of what you selected. A live pin follows the window the area came from, so it keeps updating while that window stays open. If the window closes, the pin keeps the last frame it showed. Hoverpad Pro includes pinned screenshots and live regions.

Permission and privacy

Pinning needs macOS Screen Recording permission, which you grant in System Settings › Privacy & Security. Hoverpad captures only the area you choose, and nothing leaves your Mac. Every other feature works without the permission.

Pair it with notes: write the plan in a floating note beside the pinned chart and keep both in view.

Questions

Why does Hoverpad need Screen Recording permission?

Only to pin parts of your screen. Hoverpad captures just the area you choose, and nothing leaves your Mac. The rest of the app works without the permission.
